The Om Kreem Kalikayai Namah is a Powerful mantra that has the power to attract the attention of Devi Kali, who is one of the Dashamahavidyas. Lets study the Mantra in detail to take full advantage of its structure and hidden energy components.
How Om and Kreem Lead to Sri Kali Devi
This mantra is filled with a series of Beejaksharas, or seed syllables, such as Om and Kreem.
The mantra first moves through Beejas and then rises toward its peak by invoking Sri Kali Devi in the vocative form through the word “Kalikayai.”
“Kalikayai” means, “O Devi Kali, I am addressing You.” which is an intense inner cry to Sri Kali Devi, who is seated at the peak of the Mountain of Consciousness.
We must remember that the Beeja Mantras Om and Kreem represent the Koota. They indicate the sacred journey toward the peak, where the impersonal seed-sound opens into the living presence of Divinity.
Considerations before Chanting Kreem Beeja in Kali Sadhana

The Kreem Beeja mantra belong to the fire element. It represents Devi Kali’s fierce element of creativity, that of illusion and manifestation. Although, there are Tamasik methodologies to practice this Mantra, it is especially important to approach the mantra in a Sattvik mode for overall mental and physical wellbeing.
This is a powerful mantra that brings transformation. Hence, it should be practiced specifically under a Tantrika Expert, who is especially Satvika by nature and employs use of Satvika substances for pooja, so that dark energies are not invoked. It is always advisable to consult a Guru or experienced sadhaka before taking up Kali Sadhana with Koota Beejas.
Meaning of Ka, Ra, Ea and Ma in Kreem
- The “Ka” syllable is the creative force.
- The “Ra” akshara represents the fire element that burns all negativity, sin and undesirable tendencies.
- The “Ea” Akshara or Syllable represents mahamaya, the great illusion that has brought this world into existence just as an illusionist pulls out a hare from his hat.
In the same way the great Devi Kali has pulled out this apparent reality through Her desire and magnificently transforms this universe through the agent of Time. Hence the “Ea” syllable also represents Time, known as “Kala” in Sanskritam and the one who wields time is indeed Kali Devi.

- The “Ma” syllable is the culmination aspect, representing the end. The “Ma” sound is the anusvara or dot over the word Kreem in Sanskrit (क्रीं).
Like in Om, the syllable also represents Nada or the sound that is released from the throat but with the lips pursed inward. It signifies the annihilation of ignorance and evil, leaving peace at the end.
Om Kreem Kalikayai Namaha and Chakra Balancing Benefits

The Om Sri Kalikayai Namaha mantra works strongly on the lower chakras. Its main effect is seen on the Muladhara Chakra and the Manipura Chakra.
The Muladhara Chakra is primarily connected with fear and the body, while the Manipura Chakra is connected with inner fire, and the ability to deal with pressure from people and situations.
Because Devi Kali is a fierce form of Shakti, this mantra should not be treated casually as the Om Kareem Kalikayai Namaha Mantra Sadhana can be direct and transformative.
Manipura Chakra and Inner Strength
The Manipura Chakra often carries the burden of anger, low confidence, and emotional weakness. When this chakra is weak, a person can feel easily drained by people who come with hidden motives, dominating behavior. One becomes highly sensitive to jealousy, or impure intention.
The Kreem beeja in the Kali mantra strengthens the fire of the Manipura Chakra. It helps the seeker face negativity without feeling internally defeated.

This does not mean the mantra increases aggression. The change is internal. It awakens the inner power to recognize harmful energy and not surrender to it.
A weak Manipura Chakra can also reflect fear of confrontation, and a constant feeling of lack. The person can feel that life is denying them what they deserve. It can make one feel that others have more power over their life than they themselves do. So, the Kali mantra cuts through this inner helplessness.
But because it is a fiery mantra, it requires a properly prepared foundation. That foundation is the Muladhara Chakra.
Why the Root Chakra Matters Before Kali Mantra
The Muladhara Chakra must be sufficiently balanced before one takes up intense Kali mantra sadhana. Although it is a known fact that the Kali Mantra strengthens the Muladhara Chakra, if the Root Chakra is weak, the seeker can become frightened by the very force they are invoking.
This is especially true if the person feels fear while looking at the image or iconography of Devi Kali. Also, if changes in life intimidate a person, this mantra is not advised in the beginning.

In such cases, the mantra can increase inner fear instead of reducing it. This fear gradually affects the Manipura Chakra also. The person can begin to feel more restless, doubtful, and internally pressured. Instead of feeling protected, the seeker can start feeling that negativity is increasing.
This happens not because Devi Kali is harmful, but because the inner system is not ready to hold such a direct form of Shakti.
Root Chakra and Kali Mantra
The Kali mantra works best when the Root Chakra already has inner firmness. This is because a person with a stronger Muladhara can face the fierce presence of Devi Kali without fear. Such a person does not run away from transformation.

When the Kali Mantra is chanted by a person with balanced Muladhara, it helps remove fear connected with survival, death, loss, and hidden anxiety. It also supports the Manipura Chakra by giving the person more courage to act, protect their mental space and physical boundaries, and move through difficult situations.
Most importantly for sadhakas, the mantra works on one’s lower tendencies like lust, greed and anger. Hence having an expert Guru to regulate the mantra and vidhi for you is most essential.

When the Root Chakra is weak, the seeker can struggle to continue the sadhana, often starting with enthusiasm but leaving the practice midway as the mind creates doubts like “Is this mantra too strong for me?”, “Is negativity increasing?”, or “Am I inviting something I cannot handle?” which ultimately disturb the practice.
For this reason, intense Kali mantra sadhana is not suitable for every seeker in the beginning.
Viewing Ma Kali Sadhana for Weak Chakra System
If a person experiences any such disturbance or sensitivity, it demands more grounding practices and softer forms of Devi. Hence, Sri Lalitha Devi, Gauri Devi, and Sri Durga Devi Mantras are more suitable for such seekers as they prepare the inner system with devotion, protection, and motherly grace.

However, if a person strongly feels drawn to Devi Kali but their chakra system is not fully ready, then alternate methods are recommended.
Safe Alternate Methods for Om Kreem Kalikayai Namah

Now we shall see a short process that includes a Guru-Energized Kali Yantra and chanting the Om Kreem Kalikayai Namaha Mantra.
Begin with Lower Chakra Awareness
- Close your eyes and focus on your Muladhar Chakra for a few seconds with eyes closed.
- Then shift attention to your Swadhishthana and Manipura chakra successively. Focus on the color and structure. Also, you may bring your awareness to the location of the chakra in your body. This shall strengthen the body to continue with the Sadhana. Observe the increment in the number of petals while shifting awareness from one chakra to another.
Complete 3 rounds of such focus (a few seconds on each chakra). In the beginning you may focus a minute on each chakra and then gradually increase the time when you get familiar with it.
Move Attention to Heart, Throat and Ajna Chakra

- Then slowly move attention to your heart chakra. As you move your attention from the first time to the heart chakra start the mental chanting of the Om Kreem Kalikaya Namaha Mantra in the mind a few times.
In Steps 1 and 2, we develop the necessary foundation required for a heartfelt prayer. Once we meditate on the Lower Chakras effortlessly, we can enter the heartzone, to begin calling out to the Divine Mother.
At this stage, we should first begin chanting the mantra “Om Kreem Kalikaya Namaha Mantra”, mentally. - Then focus on the Throat Chakra. Continue chanting the mantra but now audibly. You may softly chant the mantra to the extent that you can hear it yourself.
- Next you can move your awareness to the Ajna Chakra and continue with the Mantra Chanting. As you visualize the Chakra, mentally pray to the Mother Goddess to give you the vision to witness Her grace. Pray to Devi for Her Love and Grace.
Finally, culminate your practice by bowing down to the Sahasrara Chakra, which lies beyond the gross body. It is the Crown, the biggest attainment and gift of the Yogi. Focus your mind on the Sahasrara Chakra, the Seat of Shri Shiva-Shakti, where the Kundalini reaches its zenith.
